Role Summary

The Head of Transactions & Strategy will act as Union Maritime’s primary point of contact in India, supporting the company’s commercial, financing, and newbuilding activities. The role focuses on strengthening strategic relationships with Indian partners, identifying new opportunities, and ensuring smooth execution of projects with shipyards and leasing houses.

Key Responsibilities

1. Partnership Development

• Identify and develop strategic partnerships in India across trading houses, industrial groups, financiers, and maritime operators.
• Represent Union Maritime in meetings, negotiations, and industry events to build strong long-term relationships.
• Provide ongoing market intelligence on Indian counterparties, opportunities, and competitive landscape.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Sales Account Manager to join our Northern Europe team, based in London. This is a relationship-first role: your primary mandate is to own, protect, and grow a defined portfolio of established Signal Ocean and AXSMarine accounts, with a focus on the Northern Europe region.

This role sits at the intersection of data, markets, and strategy—focusing on identifying mispricing, improving market timing, and strengthening risk and performance frameworks.

• Operate and extend our “live terminal” of S&P and TC-in/out opportunities
• Pressure-test breakeven, valuation, and forward-curve assumptions behind deals
• Build quantitative cases for or against opportunities
• Scale evaluation from a handful of opportunities to hundreds per week

Role Overview

The Business Development Executive, based in Athens, will lead commercial growth by developing and expanding relationships with Greek shipowners whose fleets operate in West Africa. This role serves as the primary commercial link between our organisation and the Greek shipping community, with a clear mandate to secure new agency service contracts for vessels calling at or operating offshore in our key hubs of Lomé (Togo) and Lagos (Nigeria).

As Union Maritime’s (UML) fleet continues to grow, within an increasingly complex regulatory landscape, with evolving client demands, there is a necessity to focus on strengthening our specialist Commercial Operations team in the London HQ.

The team’s dynamic work supports our tanker and dry bulk fleet. UML also has a substantial newbuild programme underway, which consists of chemical and product tankers, in addition to dry bulk vessels.

Commercial Operations have team members situated in London, Lagos and Singapore. UML also has offices in Athens, Mumbai and Tokyo, making this an opportunity to join a truly global team.

Description

UML is a leading shipowner headquartered in London with a fleet of more than 70 vessels on the water currently covering both tankers and dry. UML offices span three continents with a significant customer base that continues to grow with their fleet of modern, economical vessels.

As UML continues its growth, the chartering team have identified the requirement for a junior dry bulk charterer to join the desk and assist in continuing the growth in this sub-sector. UML currently has ten dry vessels on the water with another twelve to deliver by the end of 2027. Thereafter there are opportunities for further vessel growth as well as opportunities to develop cargo and paper books.

We are looking for a Junior Chartering/S&P Professional to join our Commercial team. This role is designed for a recent graduate who is eager to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in the shipping industry.

• Rotate across key departement’s segments: container & dry bulk post-fixing, S&P, newbuildings, bunkering, market intelligence, and more
• Learn directly from experienced industry professionals
• Gradually take responsibility for part of our fleet’s day-to-day operations
• Develop essential skills in negotiation and interpersonal communication

Requirements

The Credit Risk Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of credit exposure across the group’s chartering, broking, financing, and other transactional activities. The Credit Risk Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining credit limit protocols and individual counterparty limits, as well as management of interest-charging policy and practice, credit default identification, escalation, and reporting. The function requires close coordination with Finance colleagues on outstanding receivables and receipts, as well as with Legal on recoveries and commercial teams on mitigations and strategy.

-          Monitor and enforce credit limits for counterparties, ensuring compliance with internal thresholds.

-          Identify and escalate defaults and potential defaults.

-          Consult with relevant stakeholders on mitigations and recoveries.

-          Maintain a centralised tracking system for credit exposures, overdue accounts, and recovery efforts.
