As UML increases its fleet and grows our footprint in the region, we are looking to hire an Event Planner to support activity in the region. The role is based in our Tokyo office 5 days per week and requires fluent English.

Key responsibilities will include:

·         Planning & organising Vessel Delivery Ceremonies in Japan, China, Singapore and Korea.

·         Organising Investor events in Japan, China, Singapore and Korea.

·         Arranging meetings when the CEO is in country.

·         Coordinating client meetings and logistics.

·         Adhoc administrative task as required.

Requirements

·         Approx. 5 years of relevant work experience.

·         Fluent English is essential.

·         Exceptional organizational & administrational skills.

·         This is a client facing role and requires professional communication skills.

Commercial Operator

Business Development Manager - Ship Management

We are looking for a dynamic commercial lead for Atlantas, to work with management on developing and executing on commercial opportunities, including most notably the expansion of technical management services (with ambition to take on a large third party fleet) and the development of the new training business (with academy sites under construction and curriculum under development). 

The role requires an experienced commercial lead, who is likely to have a background in business development, strategy, structuring, or similar areas. Candidates should have knowledge of shipping and, ideally, technical matters, but it is a commercial role rather than technical role.

Junior Dry Bulk Charterer

Description

UML is a leading shipowner headquartered in London with a fleet of more than 70 vessels on the water currently covering both tankers and dry. UML offices span three continents with a significant customer base that continues to grow with their fleet of modern, economical vessels.

 

As UML continues its growth, the chartering team have identified the requirement for a junior dry bulk charterer to join the desk and assist in continuing the growth in this sub-sector. UML currently has ten dry vessels on the water with another twelve to deliver by the end of 2027. Thereafter there are opportunities for further vessel growth as well as opportunities to develop cargo and paper books.

Credit Risk Manager

The Credit Risk Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of credit exposure across the group’s chartering, broking, financing, and other transactional activities. The Credit Risk Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining credit limit protocols and individual counterparty limits, as well as management of interest-charging policy and practice, credit default identification, escalation, and reporting. The function requires close coordination with Finance colleagues on outstanding receivables and receipts, as well as with Legal on recoveries and commercial teams on mitigations and strategy.

-          Identify and escalate defaults and potential defaults.

-          Consult with relevant stakeholders on mitigations and recoveries.

-          Maintain a centralised tracking system for credit exposures, overdue accounts, and recovery efforts.

This is an exciting opportunity to be the first Commercial Operator for Union Maritime in the USA; a proud milestone in the company’s history.

 The Commercial Operations team handles our tanker, chemical and dry bulk fleet globally.

UML also has a substantial newbuild programme underway, which consists of chemical and product tankers, in addition to dry bulk vessels, equipped with state-of-the-art wind-assisted propulsion technology, in addition to forward-thinking dual fuel configurations.

Core Role Function

 Our Commercial Operations team currently has offices in London (HQ), Lagos, Chennai and Singapore. Moreover, UML also has offices in Athens, Mumbai and Tokyo, making this an opportunity to join a truly global team.   

 To oversee the commercial operations for our owned fleet of tankers, both across spot and period charter structures. There may be the occasional requirement to assist with time zone coverage on our dry bulk vessels, when they are in the USA.

 As the first team member, there will be a strong expectation for the right candidate to drive uptake of our company systems and ways of working, to ensure a uniform global standard.
