Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Technology Architect to define and govern the organization's Technology Architecture and target technology landscape. The role is responsible for establishing technology standards, principles, platforms, and strategic technology capabilities while ensuring alignment with Enterprise Architecture and business objectives. The Technology Architect will assess the current technology landscape, identify gaps and modernization requirements, define technology roadmaps, and evaluate emerging technologies to support the organization's long-term technology strategy. The role will work closely with Application, Data, Infrastructure, Security, and Enterprise Architects and will contribute to technology governance and strategic technology decisions within a highly regulated banking environment.

About Engineering at LawnStarter

Our engineering team builds the platform that connects hundreds of thousands of homeowners with over 70,000 active service pros. We operate three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, HomeGnome) on shared infrastructure, and we're profitable and growing. Engineering here is fast - we ship constantly, we own our systems end-to-end, and we don't tolerate "not my problem." We have strong processes and existing engineering managers, so you're not building from scratch. You're raising the bar.

The Role

We're growing, and that means adding engineering leadership capacity to support new initiatives. You'll lead cross-functional delivery teams of 4–5 engineers, reporting to our Head of Engineering. Your job is to make sure your team ships reliably, grows professionally, and doesn't become a bottleneck as LawnStarter scales into new service verticals.

Our QA team is growing, and we're investing real money in better test coverage. We already have shared quality standards and a QA squad that organizes itself horizontally across teams. What we don't have is someone dedicated to owning that vision: every QA is heads-down on their own team, so nobody has the room to drive the standards forward, unify how the squad works, or push the state of the art. That's the gap this role fills. It's not a nice-to-have we're adding because things are going well. It's the structure and leadership we need to make what we've already built actually compound.

About Analytics at LawnStarter

We're a small, senior analytics team supporting the entire company, product, marketing, operations, and finance all run on the data we serve. The foundation is solid: a centralized Redshift data warehouse where all source data lands, modeled in dbt and orchestrated by Airflow, with Segment feeding event data in. You won't be stitching scattered sources together, the platform exists; your job is to make it trustworthy and keep it that way. We're mid-migration to Lightdash as our single BI platform, replacing Tableau and Metabase.

Here's the honest gap: everyone on the team today is an analyst. Data quality, tracking standards, and platform hygiene get done as side work, squeezed between analyses. Nobody wakes up thinking about them, which is exactly the job we're hiring for.
