Principal Quality Engineer

About LawnStarter

LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and related services, with over $150M in annual bookings. We're expanding beyond lawn care to become the one-stop shop for all home services.

About Engineering Quality at LawnStarter

Our QA team is growing, and we're investing real money in better test coverage. We already have shared quality standards and a QA squad that organizes itself horizontally across teams. What we don't have is someone dedicated to owning that vision: every QA is heads-down on their own team, so nobody has the room to drive the standards forward, unify how the squad works, or push the state of the art. That's the gap this role fills. It's not a nice-to-have we're adding because things are going well. It's the structure and leadership we need to make what we've already built actually compound.

The Role

You'll be LawnStarter's first Principal Quality Engineer, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering. We already have quality standards, working CI/CD gates, and AI tooling in the mix. Nobody owns the vision behind all of it, drives it forward, or leads the QA squad that keeps it running. You will.

About LawnStarter

LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, with over $750M in bookings. We're expanding beyond lawn care to become the one-stop shop for home services: three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, Home Gnome), one shared platform.

About Product at LawnStarter

Our BHAG: 1+ job per household, every year. Getting there means winning on four fronts at once: more customers, more Pros, excellent service experience for both sides, and an AI-run company that moves faster than its size should allow. We've organized around those bets as swim lanes: New Customer Acquisition, Strengthen Supply, Service Experience, and AI & Operating Excellence.

The Role

This is the most senior individual contributor seat in Product, with no direct reports. You'll work as a peer to the leaders of Ops, Data, Design, and Engineering.

Senior Quality Engineer, Test Automation & Release Quality

posted by: spj_bot

We're hiring a Senior Quality Engineer to strengthen how LawnStarter ships software across our marketplace platform. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and product, focused on building confidence into every release before it reaches customers.

In this role, you will:

  • Own and evolve automated testing coverage across our web and mobile products
  • Work directly with engineering pods to bake quality checks into the development process, not bolt them on after
  • Lead root-cause investigations when production issues surface, coordinating across teams to close the loop
  • Strengthen our CI/CD pipeline's testing infrastructure
  • Coach engineers on writing better tests and thinking about edge cases earlier

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on QA/QE experience, including building and maintaining automated test frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright)

Experience testing both web and mobile applications in production environments

Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how automated testing fits into them

Experience working in a marketplace, two-sided platform, or similarly fast-moving startup environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering, product, and support

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Data Governance and Platform Manager

About LawnStarter

LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, with over $150M in annual bookings. We're expanding beyond lawn care to become the one-stop shop for all home services - operating across three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, Home Gnome) on a single shared platform.

About Analytics at LawnStarter

We're a small, senior analytics team supporting the entire company - product, marketing, operations, and finance all run on the data we serve. The foundation is solid: a centralized Redshift data warehouse where all source data lands, modeled in dbt and orchestrated by Airflow, with Segment feeding event data in. You won't be stitching scattered sources together - the platform exists; your job is to make it trustworthy and keep it that way. We're mid-migration to Lightdash as our single BI platform, replacing Tableau and Metabase.

Here's the honest gap: everyone on the team today is an analyst. Data quality, tracking standards, and platform hygiene get done as side work, squeezed between analyses. Nobody wakes up thinking about them - which is exactly the job we're hiring for.

About LawnStarter

LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, with over $150M in annual bookings. We're expanding beyond lawn care to become the one-stop shop for all home services — operating across three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, Home Gnome) on a single shared platform.

About Engineering at LawnStarter

We build in small, focused initiative teams: a Product Engineer working alongside a PM and a designer, supported by an Engineering Manager who helps you grow. You'll also work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering peers across initiatives in a shared codebase. The whole team owns whether the work moves its metric.

AI coding agents are a force multiplier here — they give a small, senior team the leverage to ship more, faster, and at a higher bar for quality. We hire engineers who are wired for ownership and energized by shipping to a real marketplace with customers and pros on both sides.

The Role

You're the engineering anchor of an initiative — working as part of a tight team with your PM and designer, and alongside engineering peers on adjacent initiatives. You have a hand in the full lifecycle: shaping the problem, deciding the technical approach, directing AI agents to implement much of the code, shipping to production, and — with your team — owning the outcome.

About LawnStarter

LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and related services, with over $150M in annual bookings. We're expanding beyond lawn care to become the one-stop shop for all outdoor home services - pest control, pool cleaning, window cleaning, and more.

About Engineering at LawnStarter

Our engineering team builds the platform that connects hundreds of thousands of homeowners with over 70,000 active service pros. We operate three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, HomeGnome) on shared infrastructure, and we're profitable and growing. Engineering here is fast - we ship constantly, we own our systems end-to-end, and we don't tolerate "not my problem." We have strong processes and existing engineering managers, so you're not building from scratch. You're raising the bar.

The Role

We're growing, and that means adding engineering leadership capacity to support new initiatives. You'll lead cross-functional delivery teams of 4–5 engineers, reporting to our Head of Engineering. Your job is to make sure your team ships reliably, grows professionally, and doesn't become a bottleneck as LawnStarter scales into new service verticals.

We're expanding beyond lawn care to become the one-stop shop for all home services, operating across three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, Home Gnome) on a single shared platform.

About Engineering at LawnStarter

We've spent the last two years rebuilding the platform from the ground up: new customer app, new Pro onboarding, job distribution engine, and data infrastructure. The foundation is solid. Now we're moving into expanded service verticals, dynamic pricing, and AI-powered features at scale. Quality needs to keep up.

Our stack is PHP (Laravel) and React/React Native, with Cypress as our primary test framework. We actively use Claude Code as part of our engineering workflow, not as an experiment, but as a core part of how we work.

The Role

As we scale into new service verticals and grow the engineering team, quality can't be reactive. This role exists to make quality proactive: owning the automation coverage, shaping the bug process, and partnering closely with Product, Design, and the Data team to catch problems before they reach customers.

About Security at LawnStarter

Security is already part of how we build — today it's owned by our Cloud & DevOps team, who've kept it solid as we've scaled. As we grow a $150M+ marketplace that processes payments, holds customer and pro data, and runs on AWS — and as AI agents let us ship faster than ever — we're ready to take security to the next level with a dedicated leader.

Lead Data Analyst, Growth & Experimentation

About LawnStarter

LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, with over $150M in annual bookings. We're expanding beyond lawn care into the one-stop shop for all home services. Getting there depends on how fast we can test, learn, and scale what works.

About the Data Team

We're a high-leverage team of Product Data Analysts embedded across the business, owning the semantic layer and the metrics everyone trusts. The experimentation program runs on real rigor, not vibes: pre-registered analysis plans gate every test launch, anytime-valid statistics keep mid-run dashboards honest under continuous viewing, automated daily SRM and attribution health sweeps catch broken tests early, and seasonal power forecasting accounts for a business that swings hard by time of year. The test lifecycle, design through readout, is already AI-driven. Our analysts are stretched across product, so Growth support has stayed part-time and reactive, until now.
